2010 – 2011

    • The school interacts with the parents to answer their queries and also to implement parents ideas on improvement in the school.
    • In this regard PTA meeting were held where the parents were informed about their child’s progress and the varied techniques used in educating the children.
    • Independence Day celebration were held at the special school. The flag was hoisted and sweets were distributed to the children.
    • Onam festival was celebrated on august, 25th. Parents along with the children participated in the flower arrangements
    • On September 17th ayutha pooja and Saraswathi pooja were celebrated. Kolu arrangements were made by the teachers. Children day was celebrated at the special school. sports and drawing competition were held and prizes were distributed.
    • On November 23rd,the national trust conducted an exhibition at R.S Puram girls high school for the awareness program me.
    • Our school put a stall in the exhibition and things made by our children in the vocational unit were displayed. The district collector and other officials visit our stall.
    • On the occasion of world disabled day celebration, the rotract club of Saibaba colony conducted music, dance, drawing, monoacting and various other competitions on 4th December. Our children took part in all the competitions and won many prizes.
    • On December 19th, the childen participated in the organized by saarathy pammac on occasion of the world disabled day and won prizes. On December 23rd world disabled day was celebrated in our school.
    • Pongal celebration were held on January 14th at the school.
    • On January 29th a fund raising programme Ooh..la..la..laa, was conducted by our association at Kikani auditorium. Airtel super singer junior2 team sarvan balasarangan roshan nithyashree,priyanka ,srinisha and mr.nikhil Mathew and ms.rahinisree entertained the gathering. The function was a grand success and gained great publicity for our school and its activities.

    • The Women’s Voluntary Services Association, A Non-Profit Service Organization, Aims at a Enlisting the Valuable Services of Women of Coimbatore to Work Voluntarily for the Progress of the Poor and the Underprivileged.
    • The Wvs Has Been Serving The Community For Over Thirty Years. It is managed by a Committee of Honorary Members Headed by the Collector’s Wife as Director and Other Office Bearers. A Special School For Mentally Challenged Children And A Vocational Training Center Function At Our Premises In Kavundampalaya.
    • The Wvs Of Coimbatore Has 4 Patron Members, 9 Life Members And 85 Ordinary Members.

    Vocational Training

    • The Wvs Association Runs A Vocational Training Centre, Where It Conducts Courses From Time To Time In Tailoring And Craft For The Benefit Of The Women Residing In That Area As Well As Frequent Courses In Pickle, Soap Making Etc. So That The Women can Have An Opportunity To Use This Knowledge To Be Financially Independent.
    • Plans For Starting A Papper Bag Making Project Is In The Works And Will Be Fully Functional In The Coming Year.

    Special School

    • The Wvs Special School Caters To The Needs Of Mentally Challenged And Speech And Hearing Impaired Children Who Needs Special Attention. There Are 46 Children in the School with 6 Specially Trained Teachers of Whom 4 Are Special Educators .
    • The student’s teacher ratio is 1:8 and constant evaluation and monitoring ensure that children improve and are placed in classes as per their aptitude<
    • A full time occupational therapist, physiotherapist and speech therapist provide the children with therapy to suit each child’s needs.
    • The children are educated as well as trained according to their disability. The wvs wants the children to be helpful at home and to lead a meaningful life in future.
    • Vocational training will be imparted to children so that they can find a place in society when they leave school. The children and their escorts have been issued bus passes to make travel easier for them.
    • The school is constantly improving on its facility by purchasing state of the art equipment for the children, as well as upgrading its other facilities.
    • The physiotherapy and occupational therapy department was updated with purchase of special equipment d suited to the children’s needs in the course of this year.
